Japanese national holiday “Umi no Hi”

Are you live in Japan? Do you know yesterday was a Japanese national holiday? It is called "Umi no Hi" and in English, it can be called "Marine Day". Have you ever heard the word?

Marine Day is a national holiday in Japan. We call this “Umi no Hi” and a literal translation is “A day of Sea”. The day was celebrated on 20th of July until 2002 but since 2003, this is celebrated on the third Monday in July.

The significance of the Marine Day is honor the blessings of the oceans and economic prosperity of maritime Japan. This year, “the 71st Marine Day Nagoya harbor festival” was held in Nagoya.
