There are some expressions hard to distinguish in Japanese.

「なんか」and「なんて」are also one of them.

Those phrases are used in sentences to show your strong feelings.

 

 

【～なんか】

[～なんか] can be used only with nouns. 

 

<sample>

「クルマなんか使うつもりはない」(I’ll never use cars.)

「田中さんなんか知らない」(I absolutely not know a Mr.Tanaka.)

 

【～なんて】

[～なんて] can be used not only with nouns but also verbs and adjectives.

 

<sample>

▷ noun + なんて

アルコールなんて飲まない (I never drink alcohol.)

 

▷ verbs + なんて

記念日を忘れるなんて信じられない (I cannot believe that you forget the anniversary.)

 

▷ adjective + なんて

この夜景がこんなに美しいなんて驚きだ (It’s amazing that the night view is such a beautiful.)

「切ない」is an adjective so only [なんて] can be used on the sentence.

「切ない」can be translated  'painful'. When you lost someone whom you loved, you feel this strong and painful feeling inside of you.

The phrase 「恋がこんなに切ないなんて知らなかった」means 'I've never known that Love is such a painful'. This is really common phrase which is used in Japanese love songs.
