We pic up and share some useful Japanese (Nihongo) phrases which you can use in your daily life in Japan.

If you live in Japan, you may have experienced to be surprised or disappointed by something or someone.

On such a situation, what do you say in English? Do you say ‘No! It can’t be!’ or like this phrase?

In Nihongo, we have a phrase which can be corresponded to ‘It can’t be’. It is ‘ありえない！（arienai）’

ありえない is made up by 3 words.

“ある（aru）”, “える（eru）” and “ない（nai）”.

“ある（aru）” means “be” and “える（eru）” means “can” or “be able to” so when you say ‘ありえる（arieru）, it means ‘it can be’.

Then the third word “ない” means ‘not’ and it can deny its precede phrase.

‘ありえない（arienai）’ means ‘It can’t be.’ and  ‘It never should be happend.’

Please not that this phrases ban be used on your daily conversation but still casual.

Of course, what the better is never unhappy thing happens on us. We should be happy everyday. But it's good to know this phrase.
